Huntington Story:
Who: Janice Jones
What: was shot in the leg by dog
Where: motor home near Beach Boulevard
When: 10 p.m. on Wednesday
How: weapon discharged as it hit the floor, almost hit the
gas tank after the leg
Why: charges against Jones for animal abuse, not having a
permit for her gun and for having expired plates.
On Wednesday at around 10 p.m., Janice Jones was shot in the
leg at her motor home on Beach Boulevard.
Many people have been shot in the leg before, but what makes
this case so interesting was that police uncovered more than just a woman with
a bullet through her leg. Her dog that knocked over the gun, seemed to be
malnourished and after inspecting the car, it seemed that the plates were out
of date, and her gun did not have a permit.
Janice Jones was eating in the back of her motor home on 10
p.m. on Wednesday, and was shot in the leg after her dog knocked her gun over,
also hitting her car.
“It could have been worse, the bullet hit two inches from
the gas tank.” Jones’s said.
Jones is also being investigated for animal cruelty, the dog
that knocked the gun over seemed to be malnourished and had cigarette burns on
its head.
“It could have done with a little less abuse and a few more
of those pork chops.” Animal Control officer Ngo said.
Jones has been transported to Irvine medical Center after being
treated at Huntington Beach Hospital. While in the hospital, officers cited
that Jones had expired plates and no gun permit.
