Early magazine covers were more bland and not very colorful with a lot of words on the front and not a lot of pictures. The magazines looked more like a book cover than anything. The pictures that need no words magazine covers have a huge photo on the front and maybe a title and a few words. The main focus is the picture, the writer wants the reader to get the most out of the picture. The pictures married to type have models in them, they are completely posed for the photo. The title is covered somewhat by the model or something by the model. In the forest of Words. The models are more in the back behind the words, sometimes they overlap a word or letter.

W Magazine, March 2012: "Kate Moss"

The reason why I like this photograph so much is because I love the formality of it. The colors are dark and have more of a deep and rich tone to them. The viewer is automatically drawn to her lips and then look at the rest of her face. I love the fact that there’s no emotion on her face and it makes the whole photo more interesting. The background is a little unclear of what it is. The lighting focuses more on her face and arm directly. You can’t really learn much from this person just from looking at her which makes the viewer more curious.

A. Read the opinion article on page A9 titled Mentally disabled inmates still routinely put to death in Texas. Give me your opinion about this topic. Please reference the article to support your opinion. The simple question to answer is do you agree or disagree with the writer.


I do agree that murder is murder, but I also think that someone with mental disabilities, the government shouldn't map such a quick decision to kill him. I think that this man really does have some extreme disability, and therefore may not have been thinking clearly. Or able to control his actions.

Please write a paragraph telling me your plan for your self portrait and portrait assignment. Answer the following questions: who will you shoot, where will you shoot, and what will you do to make the shot successful.

I think that I will probably take a picture of my sister outside. The main focus on her would be her eyes, because she has bright green ones and long eyelashes. So probably I would get very close to her face. I'd like to also have the light shining on one side of her face. I'd want the portrait to be taken outside because I'd want it to look as natural as possible. I'll take it during the afternoon or towards sunset to get a lot of good sunlight.

 I liked this photo because the girl covered her face with another picture of herself, aligning the features of her face and hair together

I liked this photo because instead of facing the camera the camera is facing a mirror that's facing the photographer

I liked this photo because of how natural it is and how her smile or position doesn't seem forced.

I like this photo because the girl isn't looking at the camera and it's more of a close to the ground POV 

1. Tell me which amusement park featured in the two articles that you would like to visit and take your camera along and what about that park made you want to go there. Write at least a paragraph.
I think I would want to go to the first one mentioned which was the one in South Korea (Opo Land). This one scared me the most, which is why I'd want to go. I think it would be especially creepy for me but that makes it so much cooler and a whole lot more exciting.
2. Post one photo from that park. You may use the photos from the link, or you can google an entirely new photo. I would prefer to see a photo of the park in disrepair and not a photo of it when it was still operating.

3. Think of at least FIVE other unusual places you think would be of interest to photographers. List them.
- a ghost town
- a small town
- a cemetery
- an abandoned cabin
- a run down insane asylum

4. Use google or another search engine to research ONE of your five places and see if anyone has already started documenting that place. If you find that someone has already started - post at least one photo of their work.


5. Write a paragraph about why you think that it would be fun to document that location. Tell me what interests you about that place and what kind of photos you could expect to take there.
I think it would be fun to document this because it's just kind of scary and interesting at the same time. It be interesting to find things and take pictures of things that people have forgotten about many years ago. I would take pictures of rooms and hallways like that of above.
6. Tell me what it would take for you to go and take photos at your location. What would you need as far as equipment goes, travel plans, expenses you might encounter and what laws you would have to take into consideration to take photos at your spot.
I would probably need a good camera, a tripod, and for travel, I just need to find a state with one of the scariest insane asylums. I don't really know what laws I would be breaking because it would be abandoned property. I would need to find a place to take and maybe plane tickets.

3. Describe it and tell me why its your favorite.
This is a picture of a mother cheetah and her cubs. This is my favorite because I love cheetahs and they are my favorite animal. I also really liked that only one is looking at the camera, making the whole photo seem much more natural.

4. What rules of photography are evident in the photos you selected, be sure to explain the rule to me?
Patterns maybe because of the coat on the cheetah. Also the point of view seems a little lower.

5. What kind of camera and lens does he use and why is this important?
He uses a Pentax6711 with two lenses. This is important because he doesn't like to use telephoto lenses, he likes to get up close to the animal.

6. What is his reason for taking these photos?
He wants to take pictures of the animals in their natural state. He wants to keep it simple, and he doesn't want the background to be the main focus.

7. What is his hope by taking these type of photos?
He wants to help everyone remember these animals. A lot of them may be going extinct or starting to become endangered. He wants to capture photos of them before it's too late.

I think that the computer probably got the plane off course. Originally I had thought that the pilot may have 

had a part in the whole thing. The more I learned about it, the more I realized that it was just a simple
