MY TOP STORY OF THE CENTURY

In this event, activist Martin Luther King, was shot on the balcony of a hotel. Many other men and women who were against racial discrimination and with MLK were furious, causing riots everywhere. It had been five years since MLK's "I have a Dream" speech.

I think this is one of the most interesting events in the 1900s because there were huge arguments over it. Someone had finally taken a stand to stop discrimination, someone who was actually part of the persecuted race. Others followed, thousands of people. But others also got cold. That's why this happened. It's almost ironic, someone died because of their race, on their way to fight for equality.
